Runescape Online MMORPG
Runescape is a Multi-Member Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) that allows you to play the same game online with your friends. While Runescape still has a long way to come to compete for serious gamers, it does have a nice flare to it - at least in the members worlds.
In the non-members worlds (free version) it seemed there were a lot more kids and thus a lot more childish antics - kids running around calling anyone a level lower than them a Noob (newbie, person new to the game used in a derogatory manner). The members worlds seemed a bit less childish although some did show their age.
Game play is pretty easy to figure out and the 20 minute tutorial to start the game does more than an ample job teaching how to play. The graphics were a bit low when compared to other, more adult MMORPGs but not bad overall.
I spent about a month over the summer playing with my son, step-son and brother-in-law and we had a good time playing. While I do not see myself playing much more without them, I did enjoy it overall.
The game is very addicting and once you make a few friends it is hard to stop playing - especially once you are strong enough to defeat the dragons. Overall, I found it very easy to gain levels and get strong enough to do tasks that others had spent months, or years, doing but also realize that I played for several hours a day with the kids.
Compared to other MMORPGs I find that the addicting factor is just as strong, the graphics are a bit weak, but overall a lot cheaper than the good ones as well with a free version available and the paid version (recommended for anyone planning on playing for more than a week) coming in very cheap at about $6/month.
Spider Man 3 “The Movie” on PS3
I have played several Spider Man games over the years and have not-so-fond memories of Spiderman and Maximum Carnage from the Super Nintendo way back when. Like most everything else, Spiderman 3 on Playstation 3 has definitely come a long way.
My brother-in-law brought this game over to my house last week and we played it steadily every day after I got off work. Even after beating the game, we continued to play as the “black suit” Spiderman and started the missions all over.
This game definitely has hours of playability but not much in the way of random happenings and no alternate endings so I could see getting bored with it after a week or two. All in all a good game but serious gamers looking for something to last past the point of beating once or twice should probably just rent it from Blockbuster for a week and call it a day.
